April 20 Meeting: An Evening With Nashville Photographer David Bean

April’s meeting will be held at WestLight Studios, the new headquarters of Nashville photographer David Bean. You’ve no doubt seen David’s images all over town, from product packaging and health care ads to celebrity and musician portraits. Now’s your chance to learn how he creates his dynamic and energetic photos and find out how he keeps his imagery so fresh. This meeting is open to members and non-members alike.

Lucky 7 Portfolio Review

Lucky 7 is the speed dating of portfolio reviews. Clients are busier than ever, and if you are lucky enough to get them to spend 7 minutes looking at your book or website, you just might have them hooked. We will have representatives from different industries to critique and advise. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and get advice about their own printed or electronic portfolios with many of the portfolio reviewers at 7 minutes a pop. The goal is for attendees to receive actionable ideas and goals for moving forward.

“What’s Next?!” Presentation October 7, Art Institute

On the minds of so many graduating photography students is “what do I do next?” This is the opportunity to find out. Beyond the craft of making an image, Chris Hollo and Mark Mosrie, both successful Nashville photographers in the genres of music, environmental portraiture, culinary and extended personal projects, as active shooters and instructors at NSCC and the Art Institute, will both go through the opportunities in making that leap to working as an assistant or as a full time photographer. Topics covered include reaching out to established photographers to assist, showing portfolios to clients, the business expectations of photography, professionalism, outlets for continued education in the industry through trade organizations such as ASMP and many others.

WHEN: Thursday October 7 at  6:30p.m.

Adobe Lightroom 3 Workshop, July 17

ASMP Tennessee is presenting its 4th annual Adobe Photoshop Lightroom workshop. The all-day program will be held on Saturday July 17 from 9:30am to 5pm (venue TBA). With the release of Lightroom version 3, many more features are now available to increase our productivity and improve image quality. We will cover everything from the basics of using Lightroom with workflow demonstrations in the first half of the day to more advanced tools in LR 3 in the afternoon. A PDF with workshop highlights will be available to all attendees the same day. The second part of the day will involve more advanced workflows and features, RAID and other data storage solutions through software/hardware. The workshop will benefit all experience levels.

Price:

Full Day (9:30am – 5pm) $60 for non-members, $40 for ASMP members, $25 for students. (All prices include boxed lunch, refreshments.)

Half Day (9:30am – 1pm) $30 for non-members, $20 for ASMP members, $15 for students. (Lunch not included.)
